In The Line of Fire 1904 - 1910

In March 1903,
the Raymer building
at the corner of
Bernard Ave. and
Water Street went
up in flames.

Barrels of water
were hauled from
the lake and a
hand pump from
the sawmill were
used to try a save

In August 1903, fire broke out again, in the
CPR warehouse, at the foot of Bernard Ave.
A team of Bucket Brigades
extinguished the fire.

The town had various forms of fire protection.
Barrels of water were placed on the building
roof peaks at the waterfront docks.
