14.1 University teacher at ULB
During the Cyclotron computerization project, the company
that had been awarded the subcontract hired a young
consultant who was responsible - on site - for the

implementation of all the tasks defined in advance. As
explained above, the company selected by the general
management had not submitted a bid that included precise
elements such as methodology, detailed planning and
project management.
In reality, she was a young, inexperienced consultant with
no formal guide to take the project forward. I, on the other
hand, had a good sense of organization and had been taking
courses at ULB for almost three years. As part of my duties
at the IRE, I had already attended several seminars and

specific training courses. This situation soon meant that,
although I was the IRE project manager, I had also become
- by sheer necessity - the subcontractor's project manager.
As a result, this young consultant was able to take advantage
of my experience to learn, on the one hand, how to use a
methodological approach to define requirements and, on the
other, how to manage an IT project.

In her private life, her partner was a ULB professor in the
Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Applied
Sciences.
