which, virtually or in reality, should be handed over to students for study and study. These can be discs with
audio recordings or handouts in electronic (less often paper) media, which enable listeners to understand the
main essence of the issue being studied, in order to subsequently continue working with the help of virtual
libraries.
The second option for implementing distance learning is to use telecommunication technologies -
satellite or digital television channels, which allow students not only to listen, but also to watch lectures by
teachers and specialists, as well as to study a variety of video materials provided by the program. This educa-
tional niche has its own leading universities, broadcasting educational programs on their own frequencies.
Such an approach is most often accompanied by various types of online attestations and turns out to be pro-
ductive in the study of disciplines that require students to receive both visual and audio information.
And the last, by far the most promising technology, is the use of the possibilities of the Internet. To
implement training using Internet technology, the university organizes a special portal through which students,
at any time convenient for them, not only get access to educational and methodological materials, but also
undergo all types of intermediate certification. In addition, some educational institutions practice the partici-
pation of their students and teachers in Web-conferences, the use of forums and chat rooms (where students
can discuss various issues of interest to them), as well as trainings on virtual emulators during practical or
laboratory work.
Analysis of the possibilities of implementing distance learning via the Internet allows us to highlight
the following advantages:
• flexibility, the ability to practice at a convenient time, in a convenient place and pace, an ad hoc
period of time for mastering the discipline;
• parallelism - training in parallel with professional activity; on the job;
Like any distance learning tool, the Internet has its drawbacks:
• limited technical capabilities and slow modems lead to delays in the transmission of sound, video
and graphics, although the corresponding technologies are constantly improving;
• lack of trust in electronic means of communication and training; listeners want to see the teacher
and communicate with him “live”;
• Successful training depends in part on technical skills in computer management, Internet surfing,
and the ability to cope with technical difficulties;
• the variety of forms of the educational process and the pluralism of opinions decreases;
• Methodological requirements for teaching aids limit the authors' ability to present the studied ma-
terial as fully as possible, which, in the absence of a teacher, fully assumes the functions of managing the
educational process.
Research studies comparing distance learning with traditional contact have shown that distance
learning can be as effective as traditional when using methods and technologies that ensure the interaction of
students with each other, feedback between the teacher and the student, the student's activity at all stages of
cognitive activity.
