Spring break, in 2009, offered opportunity to check off five more
states on a whirlwind flight to Nashville to tour several states. This
trip included Kentucky, West Virginia, and Washington D.C. That
same year, during summer vacation after fifth grade, Harley
completed his travel goal by visiting the last ten states: Colorado,
North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Utah,
             Arizona, and New Mexico.

One of Colorado's memorable stops was Garden of the Gods in
Colorado Springs. This stop was inspired by a Rick Riordin Book,
“The Battle of the Labyrinth” where Percy Jackson and his friends get
lost in maze which included the Garden of the Gods. Here, Harley
explored some amazing red rock formations created during a
geological upheaval along a natural fault line millions of years ago.
This visitor and nature center are the most visited attraction in the
Pikes Peak region offering tremendous views, interactive museum
exhibits, and the exciting Geo-Trekker Theater movie experience.
Because of the unusual and steep rock formations in the park, it is
an attractive destination for rock climbers. The Pleistocene Ice Age
resulted in erosion and glaciation of the rock, creating the present
rock formations. Evidence of past ages can be read in the rocks:
ancient seas, eroded remains of ancestral mountain ranges, alluvial
fans, sandy beaches, and great sand dune fields.
