CHAPTER 7
A CURE WORSE THAN
THE PROBLEM
Dr. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert,
estimated on March 29 that COVID-19 could kill
between 100,000 to 200,000 Americans. This would
55
translate to 306 to 611 deaths per million people in
the United States. At face value, this estimate would
understandably compel most doctors to tighten
physical distancing initiatives. Ask any successful
business owner how they feel about the economic shut
down, and see what they say. Most of them will tell you
how ridiculous it is that we cannot be working during
this “pandemic” regardless of the “danger.” Why do
so many successful entrepreneurs reject the extreme
social distancing measures being implemented? Is it
that entrepreneur’s value monetary gain over human
life? Or does the entrepreneurial perspective allow
them to see the true human cost over the long term?
