The further we get into this lockdown the more
likely a depression-type economic scenario exists.
Many feel that the economic contraction due to
the COVID-19 shutdown will exceed the effects
of the “Great Recession” and may rival the Great
Depression of the 1930’s. My friends, the likelihood

of the economic slowdown resulting in more than
204,000 deaths become more probable each day the
shutdowns continue.
Doctors are on the front lines of this battle, I get it.
However, just like any war, the generals need to make
the call with a 30,000-foot view. Imagine a battlefield
where the front-line soldiers peer off into the distance

to see a formidable opponent. Meeting them head on
will certainly result in casualties. Understandably, the
infantry on the front lines wants to take the long way
around the forest and flank the enemy from the rear.
However, the generals must have the resolve to see
the minefield around the forest and order the troops
to march forward and face the battle head on. This
is what has to happen in this coronavirus war. War’s
messy, but the simple truth is: the shutdown will kill

more people than COVID-19
