AMOS SIMMONS FOY:
AMOS SIMMONS FOY, son of FREDERICK FOY, JR, was born in New Bern,
North Carolina, some claim, about the year 1809 or 1810. Others claim he was
born on October 5, 1810 in Craven County on the Neuse River. Various records
preserved by the descendants of AMOS contain differing dates. He died
February 14, 1861 in Texas, less than one year after the 1860 census was taken.
AMOS SIMMONS FOY was married in Mississippi in 1835 to ELIZABETH
BISHOP TROTTER who was born in Tennessee May 30, 1821 and who died in
Dallas, Texas in 1906.
The children of AMOS SIMMONS FOY and ELIZABETH TROTTER are listed
as:
1. FREDERICK FABIUS FOY, born August 16, 1839.
2. JAMES MADISON FOY, born January 5, 1842 in Dallas, Texas. He
died in Dallas January 9, 1897. He was a doctor who had lived in Bullard Mills,
Texas in 1878 where he operated a general merchandise store. He also later lived
in Putnam, Texas. (More will be said about him later in this chapter.)
3. JOSEPHENE FOY, born July 3, 1844 and died in Texas about 1897.
4. AMOS FOY, born October 19, 1846.
5. SIDNEY FOY, born May 5, 1849 and died in Anson, Texas.
6. HENRY FOY, born November 5, 1851 and lived in Baird, Texas.
7. AUGUSTUS (or AUGUSTINE) FOY, born January 21, 1854 and lived
in Putnam, Texas.
8. CATHERINE PERNECIA FOY, born August 3, 1857, who married
K.P. JOHNSON and was still living in Edgewood, Tx in 1934.
9. CHRISTOPHER DUDLEY FOY, born July 30, 1860 and died in Dallas,
