JAMES MADISON FOY (More Than One):
Note one of the children of AMOS SIMMONS FOY who lived in Harrison
County, Texas in 1860 was named JAMES MADISON FOY.
There were many JAMES MADISON FOYs and at least three of them lived in
Texas. You will recall in an earlier chapter of this book we discussed BYRON C.
FOY. He was the individual who was born in Baird, Texas, married into the
Chrysler family and hired the American Historical Society to do research on the
FOYs. BYRON C. FOY was the son of WALTER FRANKLIN FOY who was the
son of JAMES MADISON FOY who was the son of AMOS SIMMONS FOY.
The other two JAMES MADISON FOYs we will discuss DID NOT come through
FREDERICK FOY, son of THOMAS, but came through JAMES FOY, SR,
FREDERICK’s brother. These are the FOYs who lived in Sweetwater, Texas.
Some of their relatives are still in that area.
JAMES FOY, JR:
JAMES FOY, JR was the son of JAMES FOY, SR who was the Revolutionary
War hero and who lived on THE SUGAR MAPLE PLANTATION in Onslow
County, North Carolina in the late 1700s. JAMES FOY, JR was born in Onslow
County in 1774 just before the beginning of the Revolutionary War.
JAMES FOY, JR was married twice. His first wife was a MISS MONTFORD,
of Onslow County, North Carolina. Nothing further is known about her.
In researching the FOYs in Onslow County one will run across the MONTFORD
name. One will also run across the name MONTFORT and the names
