JAMES FOY, JR had a son named HIRAM WASHINGTON FOY. HIRAM had
a son named JAMES MADISON FOY, SR. JAMES MADISON FOY, SR is the
FOY who was living in Freestone County, Texas in the 1860 census.
THE SWEETWATER, TEXAS FOYS:
A few years ago BARBARA LAVERNE (WILLIAMS) FOY, the wife of PAT
RAYMOND FOY, my uncle, called me and advised she had visited a room in the
Sweetwater, Texas museum dedicated to a family named FOY.
A little research determined the FOYs featured in the Sweetwater museum are
the JAMES MADISON FOY, SR family. JAMES MADISON FOY, SR was the
son of HIRAM WASHINGTON FOY, who was the son of JAMES FOY, JR, who
was the son of JAMES FOY, SR who was the son of THOMAS FOY.
You will recall earlier in this chapter we discussed another JAMES MADISON
FOY. The JAMES MADISON FOY discussed earlier was born in Dallas, Texas
and was the son of AMOS SIMMONS FOY, the son of FREDERICK FOY, JR,
the son of FREDERICK FOY, SR.
The JAMES MADISON FOY, born in Dallas, and the JAMES MADISON FOY
who lived in Sweetwater we are about to discuss were third cousins.
