JAMES served three years in the secret service during the Civil War and was
               involved in several undercover activities until his capture late in the war. He was
               decorated by the South for his achievements.


               In 1870 he moved his family to Mexia, Texas (Limestone County) where his first
               wife,  SUSANNAH died. On May 13, 1875 he married MARTHA                          FRANCES
               BETHEL and in 1881 moved to Sweetwater, Texas when the railroads moved
               West.


               On May 14, 1884 they had twin boys, JAMES MADISON FOY, JR and JOSEPH
               HENRY FOY.


               JAMES      MADISON        FOY,    SR   owned a sheetmetal and          hardware store in
               Sweetwater and served as Justice of the Peace of Precinct #1 from 1894 to 1900.


               JAMES      MADISON       FOY,    JR married     LORA     CHINA     ROGERS on        May 23,

               1906 in Sweetwater. They had four children:


                       WILLIAM DAYTON FOY (who married MILDRED EDNA RUSSELL)
                       WINSTON ROBERT FOY (who married ALVA LEE FORBUS)
                       JAMES MADISON FOY, JR (the second JR in this line.)
                       LORA MAE FOY              (who married CHARLES E. CROW,                      a FOY
               researcher.)


               JAMES MADISON FOY, JR was a barber in Sweetwater from 1898 until his
               death    in 1954. He and      his family were members of the Highland Heights
               Methodist Church.



               His twin, JOSEPH HENRY FOY, who worked most of his life for the Texas and
               Pacific Railroad,  married DIANA MARY STARR at Sweetwater in 1906. They
               had four children:

                        MAURINE MARIE (who married HERBERT LEWIS)
                       FRANCES LENORA (who married CHARLES FISHER)
                       MARY JOE (who married ROBERT JOHNSON)
