A CARVED PALE CELADON JADE RHYTON, GONG
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795), INSCRIPTION POSSIBLY LATER
The rhyton is carved to the exterior with a broad band of C-scrolls around the mouth, above
overlapping archaistic scrolls around the body. The inner mouth is inscribed with an imperial
poem followed by Qianlong jihai zhongxia yuti, ‘Imperially inscribed by Qianlong in the
summer of jihai year’, and two imperial seals reading bide and langrun.
