               Late Qing Dynasty
               Brightly painted on the exterior in vivid shades
               of pink, purple, turquoise, yellow and green with
               two exotic long-tailed birds perching on Lake Tai
               rockwork issuing branches of heavy tree peony
               and delicate prunus buds, a single spray of iron-red
               Japanese maple at one side, the interior glazed
               white, wood stand.

               A famille rose fish bowl
               19th century
               Enamelled on the exterior with a boy sitting on his
               mother’s lap and reaching over a table to play a
               drum while servants accompany him on cymbals
               and another drum, a vase on the table issuing
               blossoming lotus, the reverse with three ladies
               on a garden terrace playing with boys variously
               carrying a ruyi sceptre, a tasselled hanging and a
               ripe melon while another hides behind his mother’s
               chair, all beneath stiff decorative lappets at the foot
               and four decorative bands beneath the lipped rim,
               the interior with seven goldfish swimming through
               water weed.
