               A very large Canton famille rose ‘Outlaws of the
               Marsh’ vase
               19th century
               The body with two rectangular panels, one filled with figures
               variously with swords, spears, bows and axes, one gentleman
               with an abacus and one lady, the other with an official at his desk
               surrounded by attendants, the panels divided by a phoenix beneath
               a bat suspending a tasselled coin and above a bird-shaped
               basket, all surrounded by floral sprays interspersed with birds and
               pomegranates, the neck with two similar panels also with military
               figures between applied handles shaped as a Buddhist lion and cub
               playing with a ball, the flaring neck with square scrolls set with large
               blossoms, the interior of the neck glazed turquoise.

               A large Canton famille rose rectangular baluster
               vase and cover
               19th Century
               Enamelled with a large cartouche on each side one with a scene
               of a fierce battle, the other side with a servant presenting a pair of
               Buddhist lions to seated dignitaries, the narrow sides each with
               delicate birds and flowers, the neck with a cartouche with a figural
               scene, flanked by an applied handle in the form of a lady, all against
               a gilt and floral ground, the cover with two scenic panels and flowers
               and butterflies, the finial formed as a lady.
               54cm (21¼in) high (2).
