Thickly potted and decorated in Western taste with four foliate
medallions between four floral garlands on the body suspended from
gilt scrolls flanking leaf-like masks on the neck, the inside of the neck
enamelled pink and the interior with scattered four peony yellow or
pink peony sprays and butterflies in flight, the foot with foliate lappets
in iron-red and gilt.

A famille rose square jar and cover in ‘Pronk’ taste
Circa 1740
The unusual vase of square form and divided into upper and lower
panels on each of the four sides with thick aubergine enamel
borders, each lower panel enamelled with two grisaille and pink
butterflies surrounding a blue fritillary flower, the upper panels each
with the continued fritillary stem issuing another flower and single
iron-red butterfly, the stepped foot with enamelled turquoise panels,
the cover with matching turquoise panels and a gilt bronze finial.
