A fine and rare enamelled and gilt ‘Madame de
Pompadour’ oval tureen, cover and stand
Circa 1750
The exterior brightly enamelled with four foliate cartouches enclosing
a bird and a fish alternatively, each encircled by various floral and
fruiting sprays, the interior with an undulating lotus spray, the cover
and stand similarly decorated, the cover surmounted by a tear-drop
shaped finial.
The stand 28.6cm (11 1/3in) long (3).

A large pair of green, yellow and aubergine-
enamelled Buddhist lions
Qing Dynasty
Each with the character wang inscribed to their forehead and seated
on a square stand with reticulated medallions, the female resting
her right paw on a small, playful cub, the male with his left on a
reticulated brocade ball.
Each 72.3cm (28½in) high (5).
