SIX ARCHAISTIC JADE DISCS
Late Qing Dynasty
The oval disc carved with a chi dragon in relief, perforated at the center
with an oblong aperture, the reverse flat with neatly lined bosses within
line borders, the cream-colored stone with earth encrustations in pitted
areas; the bi disc finely carved with lot relief dragon designs on either
side with concentric bands and ‘C’ scrolls, the stone stained olive-
brown; the oval disc simply incised with a chi dragon, the base flat and
incised with four ruyi scrolls, the stone mottled with orange-brown; the
small bi disc finely engraved with a chi dragon within line borders, the
reverse decorated with ruyi scrolls, the celadon stone degraded; a pair
of recumbent dogs forming a ring, the translucent stone stained black
on top; the thick disc carved with a chi dragon in high relief, the center
with a small aperture, drilled under the chin for stringing, the olive
green stone mottled. (6)

The engraved bi disc with chi dragon and ruyi scrolls is closely related
to the bi disc in the George Eumorfopoulos Collection, donated to
the British Museum in 1937 and illustrated on the museum’s website,
registration number 1937.0416.86, attributed as Qing Dynasty, 18th-
19th century.

THREE JADE AND HARDSTONE BANGLES
Late Qing Dynasty
Of tubular form and undecorated, the icy gray stone stained brown
and black in areas; of tubular form, carved with a pair of chi dragons
in high relief on the exterior, the gray stone stained black in areas; of
flattened toroid form and undecorated, the stone pitted and mottled
green and black. (3)
