dragon pursuing flaming pearl amidst clouds, the stone with natural
russet and gray inclusions.

The reverse side of the seal, depicting the dragon’s tail concealed
behind the clouds, bears a carved inscription at the lower left corner:
“蘧公屬，約庵 Qugong zhu, Yue’an (Commissioned by Qugong,
[signed] Yue’an).” The text engraved on the underside of the seal
reads 開陽胡氏 Kaiyang Hu shi (Clan Hu from Kaiyang). In light of this
information, it can be inferred that the seal was crafted by an artist
named Yue’an for a patron surnamed Qu, who adopted the sobriquet
Qugong. 188
