A WUCAI ‘MALLOW AND LOTUS’ DISH
17th century
Potted with rounded sides rising from a tapered foot ring surrounding
the foot with an unglazed channel, the interior painted with a central
roundel with saw-tooth edges enclosing mallow and lotus blooms
reserved against an iron-red diaper ground, all encircled by a ruyi-head
border and a band of peony heads.
