A LARGE CELADON JADE TWO-HANDLED ‘ARCHAISTIC’ CUP
15TH-16TH CENTURY
The twin-handled cup is carved in high relief to the exterior with taotie masks
and raised fanges, the handles are wrapped with writhing chilong dragons
each with a lingzhi fungus in its mouth. The wood cover is surmounted with
an openwork jade fnial carved with deer. The stone is of a mottled greyish-
celadon tone with creamy white and russet fecks and inclusions.

A CELADON JADE ‘ARCHAISTIC’ VASE, GU
16TH-17TH CENTURY
The square-form vase is carved and pierced with fanges in high relief and
incised to the body with stylised taotie masks between upright and pendant
lappets. The stone is of a celadon tone with cloudy white fecks, inclusions and
fssures.
