A SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF SHOULAO
18TH CENTURY
The Immortal is shown standing on a rocky base wearing a long fowing robe that is incised at the hems. In
his left hand he carries the peach of immortality, while in his right he holds his staf with a double gourd and
sprays of lingzhi fungus. The deity has a smiling expression on his face. There are traces of pigment visible.
