A BRONZE QILIN-FORM CENSER
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The heavily cast, scaly mythical beast is shown
seated with its hinged head turned to the side and
its mouth open for the emission of vapour. It is
modelled with a hooked horn between its upright
ears and openwork plumed tail.

A BRONZE ‘DRAGON’ CENSER AND COVER
17TH-18TH CENTURY
The censer is heavily-cast with stylised lotus petals to the sides and
two mythical beast-head handles. The reticulated cover is cast with
a dragon amongst scrolling clouds, encircling the fnial which bears
an apocryphal Xuande mark. There is a coiled dragon cast in relief
to the base.
