AN ‘IMITATION BRONZE’ PAINTED POTTERY TRIPOD CENSER
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)

body is decorated with a band of three taotie masks, reserved on a leiwen
ground. The vessel is painted overall in various shades of green and blue to
simulate the malachite and azurite encrustations which are characteristic of
archaic bronzes.
