A GROUP OF EMBROIDERED RANK BADGES
Mid to late Qing dynasty
Including a pair of black ground gauze badges each embroidered with
a silver pheasant corresponding to the fifth civil rank, now stitched
together with knotted silk tassels; a pair of dark blue ground silk
badges, one framed and glazed, each finely embroidered in Peking
knot stitches with the ninth civil rank symbol of oriole; a pair of the
625 fourth rank military badges, each decorated with an applied tiger;
the last a single badge for the back of a robe with an applied egret,
corresponding to the sixth civil rank.

A WOMAN’S YELLOW GROUND SILK WINTER VEST
Late 19th/early 20th century
The padded vest designed with a center front opening, the faded
yellow body woven with clouds and auspicious symbols, outlined
with silk bands in various colors, some decorated with flowers, and
trimmed to the front and back with large ruyi heads.

Woven with clusters of lotus blossoms, the pink-red robe bordered
with blue, black and off-white bands embroidered with fish, water
