course beginning prior to the date of employment or prior to eligibility is not eligible
for approval under the Program.
Employees who are on disability leave or other leaves at the time the course begins
and those who anticipate being on leave before the course concludes are not eligible to
participate in the Program.
Any State, Federal, Military or private assistance being received for courses covered by
the Education Assistance Program must be reported on the application form. Jones-
Hamilton Co. reimbursement will be based only upon the eligible costs less any outside
assistance.
Should unforeseen Company business activity require an employee to drop a course,
the employee may be reimbursed upon approval of the Manager, Human Resources.
An employee who voluntarily leaves Jones-Hamilton Co. or is terminated for
misconduct prior to completion of a course will not be reimbursed.
An employee who is involuntarily terminated for reasons other than misconduct or who
is transferred to another location prior to completion of the course will be reimbursed.
Income Tax consequences associated with reimbursement under this policy are the
responsibility of the employee.
Approved Undergraduate Degrees and First Advanced Degrees
Only degreed programs from an accredited school will be approved for employees
pursuing their first undergraduate degree or first advanced degree. Programs or
courses of study must fall into one of the following majors:
• Accounting/Finance • Electronics
• Business Management • Engineering
• Chemistry • Human Resources
• Biology • Organizational Technology
• Food Science • Information Technology
• Marketing • Computer Science
• Poultry Science • AG Business
