reconciliation (atonement) with him. The Jews tried to live by the law,
but we’re told every single one of them failed, including the Patriarchs
like Abraham and Moses (Acts 15:10, Rom 3:10).
We know that, in the gospel, all believers in the Messenger Jesus,
and in his Gospel Message are given the free gift of God’s righteous-
ness, and we are told that Jesus became sin for us and imparted his
righteousness to us. Thus, the law is not meant for us if we are living
the gospel. This is not the subject of this message, so I won’t share on
it.
In fact, Paul says we must be ‘dead to the law’
if we ever want to ‘live unto God’ (Gal 2:19).
This is especially noteworthy for us Gentiles. A Gentile is
anyone who is not born a Jew. That includes me, and I imagine it
includes you too. Paul is very specific when he says the law was never
meant for us Gentiles in the first place (Rom 2:14). It was only meant
for Jews.
So if we Gentiles live by the law that was only meant for the
Jews, we actually take it illegally. The law is theirs, and not ours, so
I refer to Gentiles who live by the law as being ‘religious crooks.’
They have taken something that doesn’t belong to them.
This alone should make us Gentiles
stop and consider the fact that we should
