When the New Covenant gospel IS preached, it is often so
mixed and married with the Old Covenant law it’s impossible to
tell them apart.
This is like mixing the blood of animals
with the blood of Jesus,
which is not a smart thing to do.
The Apostle Paul was a strong defender of the gospel. In
Philippians 1:17 he says he was appointed for “the defense of the
gospel,” and the Amplified version says he was “put here” on earth
for this purpose. In Acts 20:24, he says that his entire ministry was
to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. Paul was very focused.
He even says he was ‘separated to the gospel’ (Rom 1:1), which
means he didn’t allow anything else to influence him.
This is what Jesus says in Mark 1, when we are told that Jesus
came preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God — “Saying the
time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God is at hand! Repent and
believe my gospel.”
What Jesus is saying is to forsake
everything else we believe,
and to only believe and live
his gospel truth and reality he brought from God.
