          Questions

          Answers might include:
            25.  a.  The students were recruiting members for The Wave outside of the history class and more and
               more students were attending. They were preparing for class and taking part. They were doing their
               work faster using the new rapid question and answer style. Homework assignments improved. But
               there was less thinking, questioning and analysis. Students said they liked being equal and improving
               their discipline.

              b.  Ben Ross saw The Wave as a fad. He reasoned that the pace of the students’ work had improved
               because they wanted to have time for The Wave in class. He knew they could now do well on
               multiple choice tests using the ways of The Wave but doubted their ability to succeed with essay
               questions. He liked that the students enjoyed the democracy and discipline of it, as he was against
               social competition and knew that lack of discipline in schools was a national problem that perhaps he
               was now helping to solve.
            26.   The staff of The Grapevine decided to run a story on The Wave and tried to find out everything they
             could about what kids think of The Wave.

            27.   Mrs. Saunders told Laurie that she had bumped into Robert Billings’ mother in the supermarket, who
             had said that Robert was a completely new person. Mrs. Saunders was worried about this because she
             believed that such a dramatic personality change was not real and could only happen when someone
             who was unhappy joined a cult. Outside of the group, in the real world, the person would still be
             unable to function.
