Questions
Answers might include:
38. Amy read Laurie’s editorial and told her she couldn’t say such things about The Wave, that Laurie was just upset
and letting her fight with David get to her. The Wave meant that nobody is better than anyone else for once. Amy
said she was tired of competing with Laurie for boyfriends and grades and The Wave meant she didn’t have to try
and keep up and people would still like her. Amy thought Laurie was against The Wave because it means you’re not
a princess any more. Amy said Laurie shouldn’t publish her editorial.
39. Suddenly Ben Ross had a terrible headache. Something had gone wrong and he felt he was to blame. He realized
that he wanted The Wave to succeed and this disturbed him as well, as success or failure was not the historical
point of the experiment. He was supposed to be interested in what his students learned from The Wave, not in The
Wave itself.
40. Robert was getting really upset over Laurie’s story and said angrily that it was all lies and she couldn’t be allowed to
say such things. Anyone who reads this is going to get the completely wrong idea about The Wave … Laurie Saunders is
a threat … She must be stopped.
