DARE TO BE A.L.I.V.E. - DON’T BE A D.A.S.H.





                Nothing is ad bad because it could be worse. Besides, something “good”
                might come out of it. Labeling events and experiences as awful!              Usually
                makes you more       upset than you have to be. Don’t underestimate your own
                ability to tolerate bad things that happen, and to still  nd happiness in spite
                of these misfortunes.



                Loosen up! Yes, bad things do happen to people who act well. Tough! Sad!
                The world won’t, in all probability, come to an end. But our world will be
                endlessly miserable if you keep Catastrophizing and awfulizing about it.


                EXERCISE 5: PRACTICE ANTI-AWFULIZING.



                    1. Describe something that seemed totally AWFUL at the time, but does
                      not seem AWFUL now.

                B . Describe a time when something that seemed AWFUL led to something
                desirable.

                ALIVE CODE      particularly helps you Dispute and change your self-sabotaging
                and socially handicapping irrational Beliefs (iBs). This is hardly the only road
                to change but is the main one we will focus on in this lesson.



                Activating Event usually a negative life experience or Adversity. There are
                two basic kinds of Activating Events or Adversities: Primary Activating Events
                and repeated Activating Events.
