Telemetry
Telemetry Box:
Change the battery on the telemetry box every 12 hours or if telemetry box
indicates a low battery.
Notify telemetry PRIOR to removing telemetry box from patient, i.e. bath or
patient going off the unit. The Cardiac Technician will ask for staff members’s
first initial and last name. The Cardiology Technician will document a rhythm
strip just prior to patient going off telemetry and when patient goes back on
telemetry.
Hand-off:
Verify that the telemetry box has the correct patient name on the screen.
Lead Placement:
It is important to use the correct electrode
placement for detecting changes and
identifying events within the heart.
Tension on the lead wires and cables can
increase interference and cause patient
discomfort.
The telemetry box has a diagram of lead
placement.
