But God’s word teaches us to speak the truth in love. We must
condemn homosexuality as sin and help people realize the
damaging consequences involved in this lifestyle. As we help a
person struggling with homosexuality to realize where these
feelings originated, we can counsel them to obey God’s word,
and assure them that he can give them victory in this area.
Although having homosexual desires may not be a person’s
choice, and therefore may not be sin in and of itself,
encouraging those desires and acting upon them is sinful just as
acting on the desires for sex outside of marriage is sinful. Let’s
encourage them to obey God in this area of their life and trust
the power of the Holy Spirit to give them victory.
I believe that homosexuality is from the evil one and I would
counsel trapped individuals to do spiritual warfare to get rid of
the demonic spirits that are encouraging this lifestyle. Counsel
these individuals to command these evil spirits to leave by the
shed blood of Jesus Christ. I believe that by using spiritual
warfare and being obedient to God, these dear people can be free of this torment.
What three commands did God give to a man and woman married to one another?
Genesis 2:24–25 “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife,
and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no
shame.”
This foundational command is repeated in the New Testament.
Matthew 19:5–6 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to
his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Mark 10:7–9 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his
wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
1. Leave Parents:
Notice that God commanded a husband to leave his parents. In the customs of the Old Testament, the wife
always left her parents to join her husband’s family. But this command would also apply to all wives in our
culture as well.
What does this command mean? And why might it be more difficult than people expect?
A child cannot live without his parent’s love, protection and nourishment. The deep bond of dependence
established over the childhood years must be broken (changed) when a person marries. There must be a
shift of loyalties.
