Billy Bob stepped gingerly aside to give Eddie Puss plenty of room.
“Kill him...kill...urggh.”
The broken record of Eddie’s preoccupation kept playing despite
his injuries and humiliation. He flopped over on his side and lay
unmoving except for spasmodic breathing and garbled curses,
lacking interest or energy sufficient to lick at his considerable
wounds. All in all, a pitiful sight to the other two toms, accustomed
to Eddie’s usual violent vivacity.
Levi Katz looked at Billy Bob Cat.
“Well, man, it’s up to you. You’re the big street-fighting expert: go
kick his tail so we can eat. I’m starving.”
