If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well
fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is
it? (James 2:16)
My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on
behalf of a man, he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend
(Job 16:20-21)
9) Be in Fellowship with Your Church
The Bible often refers to having "fellowship" with others. Fellowship,
according to Merriam-Webster's online dictionary, is "a community of
interest, activity, feeling or experience". Simply said, fellowship develops
when you share common interests, experiences, and activities with
others. Because there is already a communality of interests and
experiences among church members, the church is an excellent place
to find fellowship. Participating in your local church's events and
ministries can help you begin to form friendships.
But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend
with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship at the house of
God, as we walked about among the worshipers
(Psalms 55:13 – 14)
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer (Acts 2:42)
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward
love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some
are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all
the more as you see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:24-25)
10) Be Hospitable
Taking your friendships beyond the confines of the church is also
important. Spend time together to celebrate life events: Invite each other
to birthday gatherings, anniversaries, and baby showers. Go to the
movie together, or to the Independence Day fireworks or other holiday
event. Get together often to share a meal: Consider how frequently
