SESSION 5 : Song of Songs 2:1-7 (NIV)
“If thou art the lily and the rose of Christ, know that thy dwelling place
is amongst thorns. Only take heed lest by impatience, rash judgments,
and pride, thou thyself become a thorn.”
I felt the Lord’s sadness that day, and my prayer for all of us is that we
will have the heart to love and obey Jesus as He deserves.
I wish to conclude drawing from the symbolism of the lily with this:
‘The Ecclesia of God, from every nation, tribe and tongue, is the Bride
of Christ and called to diffuse the exquisite fragrance of Jesus and His
truth throughout this broken world, so that His Church will continually
grow and bear fruit until the restoration of all things. Then, the time of
Jubilee will be ushered in, and all the kingdoms of this world shall
become the kingdoms of our God and of His Christ. When Christ
reigns, God’s people, Jesus’ beautiful lilies, will be completely
transformed into His likeness and also rule and reign with Him.’
Yes, of course, we all make mistakes, and yes, we are a work in
progress; but as we examine ourselves, are we truly willing to be
transformed by the renewing of our hearts and minds to no longer be
conformed to this world? That is a question for each of us to answer if
we are going to grow in the Lord.
Philippians 2:15–16 (NIV) says:
“so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without
fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among
them like stars in the sky.”
