but not of it, we must be prepared for the struggles and suffering that
will most surely come as we walk God’s way of purity and moral
excellence.
Jesus suffered greatly because of the thorns in the world. A crown made
of thorns was pressed down into His head, causing Him indescribable
pain and anguish. Yet He opened not His mouth. He never retaliated.
He never sought revenge, but fully surrendered His life to His Father,
who alone will deal with these thorns in His timing and in His way.
He went through all of this out of total sacrificial love for us—the ones
called to follow in His footsteps.
As He was in the world, so are we to be.
The Lord is seeking such a people: those who are malleable in His
hands and who will permit Him to transform them into vessels of such
purity, to present a totally different narrative to the depravity, moral
corruption, and chaos of much of today’s society.
The way to go about becoming a lily can be drawn out from the
following information about these flowers in nature. Did you know that
lily pods open up when the environment in which they are placed is
warm and pleasant? Similarly, as we position ourselves to receive from
God, the warmth and tenderness of His love have the power to melt our
cold hearts and open us up to revelation and transformation.
Sadly, much of the Church is yet to conform to this desire of the Lord’s,
and too often, when suffering and temptation come, we harden our
