SESSION 7 : Song of Songs Chapter 2:11-17; 3:1-5
Just when I thought I had exhausted my revelation on Jesus being the
Rock, the Holy Spirit then led me to another scripture, which I wish to
reference:
Isaiah 51:1–2 (NIV) says:
“Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord:
Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which
you were hewn; look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave
you birth.”
Isaac was the name of the firstborn child of Sarah, and his birth marked
the fulfillment of the covenant of grace. His name means laughter, one
who laughs, or one who rejoices.
Our beloved Bridegroom, Jesus, was split open for us—He bled and
died to inaugurate the covenant of grace, which is now available to
everyone who believes. He is our clefted Rock, where we hide from the
lies and accusations of the enemy, who tries to steal our true identity
and rob us of the peace and joy that belong to us, as we remain hidden
in Christ. We must at all costs, remain entrenched in the cleft of our
Rock Jesus. It is from this secure place alone, that we gain heavenly
perspective and the ability to see beyond that which stands before us in
the earthly realm. Jesus alone is our present help, stronghold, and
deliverer in times of trouble, and as we abide in Him by faith, we learn
to live above the circumstances of this earthly life instead of being
under them.
