RADICAL LOVE

quite frightening to hear the Holy Spirit telling me to stand up and

          challenge this man.

Anyhow, I politely raised my hand and asked if I might be permitted to

say something, and the man said I could. So I stood up. As I did this, a
holy silence filled the room. The atmosphere was very heavy and very

serious. I explained that what had been said did not align with biblical

truth and proceeded to cite three scriptures about Jesus Christ being the
only way to the Father. When I had finished, I sat down with my heart

hammering, and the preacher continued with his sermon.

          truth of God’s Word.

The chapter continues with the response of the Shulamite. She has

heard the entreaty of the Lord to arise and follow Him, and His
command to now deal with the compromises in her life that would

thwart her fruitfulness. However, her reply indicates that she is not yet
ready for this next step of faith. Yes, she has reached a level of intimacy

with her Beloved and security in her identity as a child of God. She

knows the sound of His voice, understands the call to take up one’s
