RADICAL LOVE
good; His discipline is always redemptive, and His desire is for us to
know Him and to be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
It is interesting to note that only after a season of intimacy and
disciplinary preparation can the Shulamite be included in serious
spiritual warfare and the ushering in of the Bridegroom’s Kingdom.
This same principle also applies to us. If it were not the case, the enemy
of our souls would gain a foothold in our lives and devour us.
We cannot go into major spiritual warfare if we do not know our
identity in Christ. Satan—who is a legalist—will attack us with
accusation and condemnation. We need to be able to look the devil in
the eye (figuratively speaking, of course!) and present to him the truth
of the New Covenant, which says we are true sons of God, covered by
the blood of Jesus, and able to declare the finished work of the Cross
over our lives.
It is so important that we keep behind the protective covering of the
blood and, like Jesus, be able to declare with confidence that the enemy
of our souls has nothing on us.
Another very important observation is that this warrior has not been
trained in gruelling conditions and harsh demands, unlike the elite
fighting warriors of the world. On the contrary, she has come up
through the ranks of the army of the Lord through loving discipline,
acceptance, encouragement, and affirmation.
