can also mean “faith” or “a place of settled security.” Senir means
“flexible armour,” and Hermon denotes “destruction”—referring to
the destruction of the works of the devil through Jesus’ victory on the
Cross.
As I prayerfully considered both interpretations of this verse, I had a
sense that the Lord wants us to be still and ascend in the Spirit, where
we are seated with Christ in the heavenly realms. It is from this vantage
point that we lay hold of the promises of God for our lives by faith,
truly learn to recognize who He is and who we are in Christ, and
understand the authority we have in Him.
It is here that we are equipped with our flexible armour—an armour
that is comfortable and custom-made for each one of us—so that we
can be overcomers in the spiritual battles we face as God’s people.
Remember, as the Scriptures tell us (see Ephesians 6:12 and 2
Corinthians 10:4), we do not war against flesh and blood, but against
the rulers, authorities, spiritual forces, and powers of evil in the
heavenly realms.
It is “’Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of
hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6, NIV). And as we are filled with Holy Spirit
power from being seated above in the Spirit, we then enforce these
promises into the natural realms of our lives through faith and trust in
the One who gave them to us in the first place.
