SESSION 2 : Song of Songs Chapter 1:1-2 (TPT)
Didn’t Jesus say in John 10:10 that He came to bring life in all its
fullness and abundance?
In contrast, were you also aware that drinking wine mimics the effects
of oxytocin—but when overindulged in, causes nausea, confusion, and
actual decay of the body? It is the love of Jesus alone that brings
fullness of joy, peace, and life, and He is inviting us to drink deeply of
Him in these days.
We can now see from the text that wine symbolizes the pleasures of the
world. But now the Holy Spirit has begun revealing to her heart that
there is something more satisfying in discovering the love of her
Beloved. His love is far superior to all the things that excite and
stimulate the senses, or that cause elation to our fleshly appetites.
King David revealed that he, too, had a profound revelation of this truth
in some of his Psalms. In Psalm 63:3, he writes: “Because your love is
better than life, my lips will glorify you.”
In Psalm 42:1 (TPT), we read:
“I long to drink of you, O God, drinking deeply from the streams of
pleasure flowing from your presence. My longings overwhelm me for
more of you! My soul thirsts, pants, and longs for the living God.”
How is it, we may ask, that one can have such intense spiritual longing
for Jesus? The answer, according to Watchman Nee, lies in spiritual
vision. The Holy Spirit is evidently able to give vision to some that He
cannot give to the average believer.
