very potent fruits are emitting a fragrance of spring, which is indicative
of resurrection life. I believe that the Holy Spirit is sending forth His
“love fragrance” upon the earth, on behalf of His bride, which will
grow with increasing intensity as the world grows darker.
The main reason that God’s love will be poured down like never before
is found in 1 John 4:19: “We love because He first loved us.” The order
in which this Scripture is written matters. Confidence in the reality of
who Jesus is—and who He is for us—grows from recognising, at the
outset, that He has given Himself fully to us and has loved us for
eternity.
We cannot truly love unless we have first received His love for
ourselves. It is a supernatural love and has to be deposited within us by
the Holy Spirit before it can flow back out to Him and to others. The
degree to which this truth takes root in us is the degree to which our
lives are transformed.
Experiential assurance of Jesus’ love for us is what fuels obedience,
devotion, and a desire to live lives of worship unto God. Our
willingness to yield our lives to Jesus emanates not from striving but
from resting in the knowledge that we are unconditionally, deeply
loved, and desired by Him.
This is the love that will bring true and lasting strength, endurance,
peace, hope, and joy to our lives.
