SESSION 18

          grace; give us grace to ask for grace; give us grace to receive grace;

give us the grace to believe and use the grace we have received.” Amen.

As I read about the “faraway fields,” I sensed that this isn’t just about

the geography of a church, but also about the people of God who need
to be wooed into experiential faith. Many of us—even after walking

with the Lord for years—do not truly understand that we are

completely, unconditionally loved and accepted sons of God. We are
still trying to earn the favour and love of God by how much we do, by

our good behaviour, and by how well we perform—when Jesus has
already earned it on our behalf at the Cross.

It is time to be honest and ask ourselves the questions: “Do I really

believe that God loves me and accepts me even when I stumble and
          mess up?”

Or, what about when Jesus wants us to appear before an audience of
one and minister to Him alone for a season?

Do we start to feel agitated and anxious in our spirits because there is a
small voice in our heads telling us that we should be doing more?

If our answer is no to the first of those questions and yes to the second,

then we are still under the old covenant of law and feeding from the
tree of good and evil—i.e., salvation through dead works—instead of

grace, feeding from the Tree of Life, which is Jesus.

Why? Because we hold the view that our behaviour and actions

influence our standing before God—when it is the blood of Jesus alone,
