to Him—drawn from the hustle and bustle of the world, drawn from
her comfort zone, drawn from fleshliness that cannot satisfy like He
can. She is entreating Him to take her out and away from everything
that would hinder intimacy, and also hinder the laying hold of that for
which Christ took hold of her (see Philippians 3:12–14).
And yet, we cannot come into this place of desiring to be drawn to Jesus
unless we receive His grace and the Holy Spirit’s power. This in itself
should cause us to love Him more. We can only truly love and worship
Jesus to the extent that we have received a revelation of His love and
nature as a person. We can’t love a religion, a concept, or a doctrine—
we love people. And God is revealed to us through the person of Jesus
Christ.
In Colossians 1:15 (NIV), we read:
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all
creation.”
At this point in the journey—although she is not yet aware how costly
it will be—she has had sufficient revelation of the loveliness of God to
want to go higher and deeper. The curiosity of the less mature has also
been awakened, as they say: “We will run after you.” In other words:
“You go ahead, and when we see what happens, then we may follow.”
