Furthermore, Mission’s management requires that every person in the organization assumes the
responsibility of individual and organizational safety. Failure to follow Mission safety and health
guidelines or engaging in conduct that places an employee, customer or Mission property at risk
can lead to corrective action, up to and including termination of employment.
The Safety Committee shall have the responsibility to develop and the authority to implement the
safety and health program of Mission in the interests of a safer work environment. For further
information on safety, please refer to the Mission Safety Plan located on the HRIS homepage.
SECURITY
Mission is committed to providing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and efficient workplace. It is
the policy of Mission that all customers, suppliers, visitors, and ex-employees are allowed in the
waiting and lobby areas only of all Mission premises and all such persons must sign in and identify
themselves. At certain locations, customers, suppliers, and visitors may be issued a special visitor’s
badge, a laboratory coat, and other items that such persons will be required to wear while at a
Mission premises. Typically, visitors must be escorted by a Mission employee at all times while
on premises and must sign out and return all Mission property prior to leaving the premises.
Employees are responsible for the conduct and safety of their visitors. If an employee’s work
location issues identification badges, the employee is required to have his/her identification badge
with him/her at all times while on the premises.
Mission Property or Equipment: Employees requesting to take Mission property or equipment
off premises must first obtain their supervisor/manager’s written authorization. Removing
property or equipment without authorization may result in corrective action, up to and including
termination of employment. Employees are responsible for the proper care and return of all
Mission property and equipment assigned to their possession.
Searches: Employees may be searched, questioned and subject to surveillance whenever Mission
believes it is necessary to maintain safety or security. All personal property brought onto Mission’s
premises, such as vehicles, packages, briefcases, backpacks, purses, bags, wallets, etc. are subject
to inspection. Mission may also inspect the contents of lockers, storage areas, file cabinets, desks
and workstations at any time and may remove all non-Mission property and other items that are in
violation of Mission rules and policies. Searches typically will be for illegal or unauthorized items,
drugs, alcohol, weapons, or stolen property, but Mission has the discretion to search for any item
required by business needs. Employees who do not cooperate in any search will be subject to
corrective action, up to and including termination of employment. Employees consent to such
searches is a condition of continued employment.
Employees are expected to exercise reasonable care for their own protection and for the protection
of their personal property while on Mission premises and while away from the premises on
business. Mission assumes no responsibility for loss, damage, or theft of personal property.
