Bread and Butter Pickles

                                    Ingredients:

                                    1 gallon medium cucumbers
                                    8 small white onions
                                    2 bell peppers
                                    ½ canning salt
                                    5 cups sugar
                                    5 cups vinegar
                                    1½ tsp turmeric
                                    2 Tbsp mustard seed
                                    2 Tbsp celery seed
                                    cracked ice

                                    Slice cucumbers, onion and peppers. Add salt and
                                    cover with ice. Let stand 3 hours. Drain. Combine
                                    spiced vinegar. Pour over cucumbers. Bring to a boil
                                    but Do Not boil. Pack in jars and seal. Refrigerate 24
                                    hours before using.
