Mr Desmond Chong
Mr Desmond Chong Kok Hwee, Head of Risk
Management, MasterCard Asia Pacific and NYAA
Gold Award holder (1998 Cohort) and NYAA Council
Member, was elected as the Singapore Scout
Association Chief Commissioner on 1 December
2021.
Mr Chong has vast experience managing youth
projects during his NYAA journey and represented the Mr Desmond Chong Kok Hwee, NYAA Gold Award holder
NYAA in many international conferences and events. (1998 Cohort).
One of the most significant projects he chaired was
breaking the Guinness World Records on the World
Longest Human Dominoes, which involved more than
ten thousand young people in 2006.
NYAA is confident that the Singapore Scout
Association will benefit from his leadership and vast
experience in youth work.
Mr Albert Pek
Many NYAA Gold Award holders hold senior positions
in the public and corporate sectors. Mr Albert Pek, an
NYAA Gold Award holder (2004 cohort), is the Deputy
Principal Private Secretary to Deputy Prime Minister
and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, Mr
Heng Swee Keat.

Mr Darren Tan
Mr Darren Tan, an ex-offender and an NYAA Gold
Award holder (2020 cohort), continued to lead in
charities like Yellow Ribbon Fund Raising Project. In
addition, as a legal advisor, he has served well in Jurong
GRC, Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s
ward. Mr Tan is now a successful lawyer, and NYAA
believes he will continue to serve the community
well.

Dr Ken Ong
Dr Ken Ong, an NYAA Council Member and an
NYAA Gold Award holder (1995 cohort), has been
nominated by NYAA ED to attend a 3-day leadership
course conducted by the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne
of Switzerland. Dr Ken shared that the professor
flown in from Switzerland teaches techniques quite
different from our local university. The course forces
you to think out of the box to find solutions.
