Dr Charles Phua
Dr Charles Phua Chao Rong, Chief Executive Officer,
Solaris Strategies Singapore and an NYAA Gold Award
holder (2002 Cohort), has been helping NYAA in the
development of a leadership programme for the
members of the NYAA Gold Award Holders’ Alumni
(GAHA), to be influential leaders with communication
and interpersonal skills, motivation, inspiration and
better decision-making skills and accountability. In
December 2021, Dr Charles Phua was conferred the Dr Charles Phua Chao Rong, NYAA Gold Award holder
SkillsFuture Fellowship Award by President Halimah (2002 Cohort).

Dr Phua’s areas of competencies are the United
States, China, ASEAN and Singapore. A Fullbright US-
ASEAN Fellow at Brookings Institution (Washington
DC), Senior Fellow East-West Institute (New York),
a Resident Fellow at Columbia and John Hopkins
Universities, and a SAF Scholar who won many
international and Singapore Awards for his leadership
and contributions. One of Dr Phua’s latest publications
is Strategic Pragmatism in Foreign Policy.
Dr Mustafa Izzuddin
Dr Mustafa Izzuddin, a Director of International
Relations Studies with the Beaconhouse National
University of Pakistan and an Adjunct Professor with
the National University of Singapore and NYAA Gold
Award holder (2002 Cohort), was appointed as an
Expert in Civilisational Dialogue by the Islamic World
Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation
(ICESCO) based in Rabat, Morocco.
Dr Mustafa made history as the first Singaporean to
be appointed despite Singapore not being a Member-
State of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation
(OIC).

Mr Zed Teo
Mr Zed Teo Zi-Ming, Assistant Commissioner of Police
and Commander of Ang Mo Kio’s Police Division and
an NYAA Gold Award holder (2002 Cohort), under his
leadership, the Ang Mo Kio Police Division won the
Best Land Division Award on Police Day in June 2021.
NYAA congratulated Mr Teo for his leadership.
