FUTURE PLANS
Leveraging Technology for NYAA Mobile Apps & Activities
The NYAA is embracing technology to enhance the participant experience by developing an online
registration system and mobile apps for activity recording. This transition from traditional printed
materials to digital platforms offers numerous advantages.
The introduction of mobile apps allows participants to conveniently track their NYAA journey,
resulting in reduced administrative workload, increased accessibility, and improved facilitation for
teachers coordinating the NYAA Programme in schools and for the NYAA Secretariat.
Moreover, the mobile apps empower participants to take ownership of their progress and monitor
it in real-time. This technological advancement also enables flexible participation in the NYAA
programme, which has proven invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Leadership Development for the Future
Recognising the evolving and diverse job market that awaits young people, the NYAA has launched
leadership development programmes. These initiatives go beyond conventional books and
syllabuses, offering workshops on leadership training, elevator pitches, and presentation skills.
These programmes aim to guide participants' personal growth and development through
experiential learning and exposure. By equipping young individuals with these essential skills, they
become more confident and adept at navigating their communities and workplaces. We are
committed to preparing our young people for the future through various informal platforms,
locally and internationally.
We are mindful of those who may be academically less capable or face considerable challenges in
their home environment or lives. We strive to be inclusive in creating programmes that provide a
platform to improve their self-esteem, develop their confidence, and move forward in their lives.
Promoting A Healthy Mind and Body
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought significant disruptions and changed the learning model and
interactions between people. The NYAA Council works closely with government agencies and
partners to address mental wellness and healthy living challenges. Award participants are
encouraged to engage in physical activities while maintaining proper diets to foster fitness and
overall well-being. We firmly believe that a healthy mind and body are crucial for effective
community service and the well-being of individuals and families.
In addition, we recognise the need to help students address and manage new ways of handling
stress, especially with the impact of social media and new platforms on the internet. Young people
must learn to differentiate fake news and false information to avoid falling victim to scams,
falsehoods, or cyberbullying.
Integration Between the Young and the Elderly
Recognising the projected doubling of elderly Singaporeans by 2030 and the need for increased
support for older people, the NYAA Council aims to strengthen and promote active ageing. This
involves encouraging participants to initiate community projects that raise awareness and improve
the relationship between young and older individuals.
