Swiss National Day 2021

            Swiss  National  Day  was  celebrated  virtually  on
            1  August  2021  due  to  the  COVID-19  pandemic.
            H.E.  Fabrice  Filliez,  Ambassador  of  Switzerland  to
            Singapore, highlighted NYAA as one of the key partners
            in  the  St.  Gallen  Symposium.  Ambassador  Fabrice
            thanked the NYAA for its leadership and contributions
            through  the  annual  St.  Gallen  Symposium  and  the
            Leaders of Tomorrow Programme. Mr Tommy Koh Kit
            Shaun,  NYAA  Gold  Awardee,  chaired  the  St.  Gallen
            Symposium’s Leaders of Tomorrow Singapore Alumni.

                                   Man About Town - Service Through The Lens


            Mr Mel Patrick Kasngsing, Editor-in-Chief of Kanto, is
            a  world-renowned  creative  title  that  touches  on  all
            aspects of modern creative life. It aspires to highlight
            creative voices around the globe in need of a stage
            and  provide  a  venue  for  discourse  on  issues  and
            themes that affect the creative professional.

            Mr  Darren  Soh,  an  architectural  and  landscape
            photographer  and  an  NYAA  Gold  Award  holder
            (1998  Cohort),  was  interviewed  by  Mr  Mel  Patrick
            Kasinging,  Editor-in-Chief  for  Kanto  and  Founder  of
            Brutalist  Philippines  and  Modernist  Philippines.  The
            title of his interview: Man About Town: Singaporean
            Architectural  Photographer  Darren  Soh,  faithfully
            chronicles the ever-evolving spatial narratives distinct

                                        The Plight Of Golden Mile Complex


            The  Golden  Mile  Complex  was  the  first  commercial
            building  to  be  gazetted  as  a  conserved  building  by
            the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) in 2021.
            The  building  was  built  in  1973  and  designed  by  a
            homegrown architect firm, Design Partnership, now
            known as DP Architects involving three Singaporean
            Architects: Mr William Lim, Mr Tay Kheng Soon and
            Mr  Gan  Eng  Oon.  These  three  pioneer  architects
            were grateful to Mr Darren Soh, an architectural and
            landscape  photographer  and  an  NYAA  Gold  Award
            holder (1998 Cohort) and a founding member of the
            NYAA Young Photographers’ Network (YPN), for raising
            awareness of the plight of Golden Mile Complex with
            his excellent images of the building and its interior.

            Mr  Soh’s  work  in  protecting  Singapore’s  heritage  is
            well-known. Many articles in Singapore and overseas
            have featured his work.
