Women Can Do International Forum 2021
Ms Cassandra Yip, an undergraduate in Environmental
Studies with the National University of Singapore and
an NYAA Gold Award holder (2018 Cohort), was a
Guest Speaker at the Royal Commonwealth Society
International Forum on the theme “Women Can Too,”
held in conjunction with the International Women’s
Day 2021.
Ms Yip shared how women can play an essential role
in society and contribute to nation-building. Today,
Singapore has a female President, and our current
parliament has the most significant number of
women in our history. Our leaders have consistently
recognised that supporting women’s progress is the
right thing to do and necessary for our resource-
scarce nation to fulfil its potential.

Serving The Community Through Health Care
NYAAn has been exploring how we could support
young people suffering from mental health issues.
Dr Alvona Loh Zi Hui, a mental health specialist and
co-founder of WEquality, a mental health programme
and an NYAA Gold Award holder (2013 Cohort), has
raised awareness of mental health issues.
Dr Loh and her team have developed a programme to
identify feelings, moods and relationships with others.
The programme will allow students to talk about their
emotions before their significant examinations. Under
the NYAA Healthy Living Section, we can add the
mental health programme.
